Problems related to the lungs can also be a cause of chest pain. The human lungs play a very significant role in healthy body functioning and survival. There are many diseases that may affect the lungs. While some may be easily curable, others may result in serious consequences. Some of the reasons of chest pain correlated with the lungs include bronchitis, asthma, pleurisy, pneumonia, formation of blood clots in the lungs or lung cancer.
The first step involves the correct diagnosis for the reason of the chest pain. Apart from some regular blood tests, allergy tests and chest X-rays, the doctor may feel the need of a CT, MRI or even a biopsy. Once the nature of the disease is established correctly, the treatment can be commenced.
If you are fortunate and the reason for the chest pain turns out to be as minor as cold or bronchitis, then a dose of antibiotics can solve the problem. Asthmatic patients may require inhalers to obtain relief and alleviate the chest pain. In circumstances of pneumonia or staphylococcus, the patient would be admitted to the hospital for the administration of intravenous antibiotics. The worse news would be the detection of lung cancer. Treatment in this case would depend upon the extent of the malignancy and would involve surgery, radiation or chemotherapy.
Instead of getting your life into such complications, it is always advisable to eat and live healthy and keep the body disease free. Most lung problems can be avoided by saying a no to tobacco, eating healthy food and exercising regularly.
