Joints are primarily responsible for allowing different types of movements in our body. There are four different joints, namely:

• Ball and Socket Joint: Found in shoulders and hips
• Hinge Joint: It allows one-way movement. These are found in elbows, knees, etc.
• Pivot Joint: It allows rotation (example: neck)
• Ellipsoidal Joint: Found in wrists

These joints are composed of cartilage, ligaments and tendons. Synovial membrane provides lubricating synovial fluid to prevent bones from rubbing against each other. An inflammation or swelling in and around the joints will lead to immense pain limiting the person’s ability to move the set of bones associated with the joint.

Joint aches are increasing at an alarming rate these days making this a huge cause of concern. Millions of people the world over suffer from arthritis. There is immense swelling and inflammation in joints causing severe pain and discomfort to the person. In most cases, the person has to deal with the pain forever. Lyme disease caused by tick bites is also responsible for causing red spots and joint aches. The bite looks similar to a bull eye rash and has a raised center. If left untreated, it causes severe inflammation of joints. Fever, fatigue, muscle pain and chills are observed.
