Alzheimer’s disease mainly affects the elderly sections of the society. This slow neurological disorder has a direct effect on the person’s thinking and intellectual abilities. The disease takes years to develop making the diagnosis a little difficult. Generally, early Alzheimer’s disease symptoms are often confused with the normal ageing process and are generally neglected as nothing serious. There is no cure for Alzheimer’s yet, but the severity of the disease can be reduced if diagnosed and treated early.

• Inability to recollect: The person will find it extremely hard to remember events or happenings that occurred a few minutes or a few days ago.
• Memory Loss: The person will forget to lock the door, might leave the stove on and would forget where he/she is staying. The person might also forget how to go back home or reach the office.
• Mood swings and irritability: The person moods will drastically change in seconds. He/she might appear extremely normal and suddenly get angry for nothing. Irritability and depression is generally observed for no apparent reason.
• Inability to speak and converse: The person will find it extremely hard to communicate with others. They will not be able to initiate a conversation or continue one.
• Difficulty in pronouncing: The person will have difficulty in pronouncing simple and normal words. This will greatly interfere with his/her socializing abilities.
• Inability to perform simple day-to-day tasks like combing ones’ hair, putting on clothes, and failure to use simple equipment like pen, pencil, etc. are also observed. Decreased judgmental abilities make the person highly dependent on others.
