Cesarean surgery is performed for the delivery of a baby in a pregnant woman. if the woman has been unable to deliver the baby through a vaginal birth then only the surgical procedure is opted. However, most doctors try their best to have the baby delivered in the normal birth style because it is good for the mother and the baby.

In a cesarean surgery, the doctors make an incision near the naval and also cut the uterus to remove the baby from the womb. The incision can be anything from 4 inches to six inches long. Sometimes it can be even more and it depends on the size of the baby.

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. After that the surgical wounds are stitched up the healing process is very important. Scar tissue is a big concern for women who deliver the baby through a cesarean birth. However, some amount of scar should be expected and it is likely that the skin will show the effects of cesarean surgery for a long time. It can be corrected later using some plastic surgery to improve the condition if there is a scar tissue. However, postnatal care for the surgical wound should be good in order to avoid the scar tissue. If a woman takes care of the wound by getting it dressed regularly and also use some creams to avoid the scars then she can prevent it. However, not all women show the scars on their stomach after the surgery. For some, the scars heal naturally over a period of time.
