Earliest Possible Signs Of Pregnancy

One of the most fool proof signs of pregnancy is a missed period and a urine or blood test taken thereafter.

However, anxiety makes it difficult for any woman planning a child to wait till the next menstrual cycle. Thus, most women are keen to know the earliest possible signs of pregnancy. Before, knowing these indications, one must understand certain scientific facts linked to conception.

Conception takes place within a time frame of 24 hours of ovulation. Implantation of the embryo occurs 8 to 10 days after ovulation. Therefore, mostly the earliest signs of pregnancy would probably start showing 3 to 4 days after implantation. It is not necessary that all pregnant women experience the pregnancy symptoms at a similar time or with the same intensity. In fact, some may experience only one odd symptom or none at all. The symptoms of pregnancy do not indicate an assured pregnancy. Practically, a pregnancy test taken at about 2 weeks from the time of ovulation would indicate the real result.

Implantation spotting could be one of the earliest signs of a possible pregnancy. This could occur anywhere between 3 and 12 days after ovulation resulting from the attachment of the embryo to the uterine wall. As a result of implantation, the basal body temperature could also show an increase. This symptom is evident in the first month itself. Changes in the breast also indicate pregnancy. Tenderness of breast, soreness of nipples, blue veins running across the breast and darkening of the areolas exemplify the potential changes. Many women experience cramps in the stomach similar to the kind one feels at the onset of menstruation. The enlargement of the uterus leads to cramping of the abdominal muscles in pregnant women. Another symptom that arises due to the increase in the size of the uterus is frequent urination. This occurs due to the pressure caused on the urinary bladder as a consequence of the expansion of the uterus. This symptom is predominantly prevalent in the first and last trimester.

The levels of hormones such as HCG and progesterone increase rapidly on conception. The rise in their levels results in sluggishness especially during the first pregnancy. The high level of progesterone could also lead to mild fever, on the whole demonstrating flu-like symptoms. Due to the increase in the pregnancy hormones, many women undergo morning sickness with or without vomiting, very early in pregnancy. Also, in some women, pregnancy can be immediately spotted due to increased smelling power and sudden food craving and aversions.

Other symptoms of early pregnancy include headache, acidity, constipation, dizziness, bloating and gastric problems. However, it is better to wait for the pregnancy test results before coming to any conclusion.
