H1n1 Vaccination Side Effects

The FDA passed out 4 vaccines in order to prevent swine flu. However, latest preliminary reports after clinical trials of those vaccines showed up some common side effects experienced by the participants.

Local side effects:
The swine flu vaccine does not cause death or any serious side effect. However, about 44 percent of the participants complained of mild side effects within 7 days of getting the first dose of the vaccine. Moderate side effects were seen in about 2.5 percent of the patients. However, there was no presence of any adverse effect after administering the vaccine. About 86 percent of the participants who received the H1N1 vaccine made by Novartis, complained of unpleasant reactions after getting one or both doses.

The most commonly complained local side effect was pain at the site of injection. The reactions were noted to be mild to moderate that resolved after 3 days. The local side effects that were reported to affect the location of the injection include:

Commonly observed general side effects:
About 36 percent of the patients suffered from mild systemic side effects, while 8 percent of the vaccine recipients complained of moderate systemic side effects. Less than 1 percent of the recipients reported severe and serious side effects after immunization. These side effects include nausea, pain in the muscles and malaise. Pain in the muscles was most commonly complained side effect from the patients who received the vaccine produced by Novartis.
