It is hard to detect if a person is suffering from bulimia since they look perfectly okay. Few of them, however, may appear a bit over weight. You will probably miss out somebody in the middle of bulimia symptoms, like binge eating. Binge eating foods are part of the comfort zone food like ice cream, cake, cookies, and other sweet foods.

The commonest symptoms of bulimia are given as under. All these symptoms may not be present in a person at the same time.

Visible Symptoms -- Unusual starvation, extra strenuous exercise regime, harsh dieting, irrepressible eating habit, Visiting bathroom habitually after meals, feeling weak and fatigued, manic about body weight, mood disorders and depression, eyes turn bloodshot, and glands of face and neck become swollen

Invisible Symptoms -- Clandestine exclusion, excessive usage of laxatives and/or diuretics to control weight, irregular menstrual periods, recurrent heartburn and indigestion, vomiting blood, dental issues, bloating, and constipation.

One of the most important symptoms of bulimia is a binge eating, which occurs immediately after forced purging or vomiting. Binge eating actually refers to a condition when a person forces himself to eat too much at a single time. The person eats too much not because of the hunger, but because of some stress, depression or any other episode related to self esteem. Binging brings along with it a feeling of loss of control which is immediately reversed with a feeling of calmness afterwards. Such a feeling remains for a very short term and thereafter the same person starts hating himself. This actually a cycle that occurs repeatedly.
