Kids and children are often prone to fractures during their early childhood periods. Some kids might be more vulnerable to fractures than others .This is one of the reasons why parents should take their kids to orthopaedicians. Most of the fractures are caused due to falls noticed during any kind of sports activities or playground activities.
Again boys score more fractures than girls in this area. Now the fractures might commonly occur at forearm, elbow, hand, leg and ankle. If hips get fractured which is quite rare with kids then it results into some severe like degenerative arthritis. Is swelling occurs it might lead to bone fracture and X-ray results are always needed to exactly know how much of the bone is damaged. In such cases there is a higher chance of the bone ripping off the nearby tissues and causing swelling.
The best way suggested is surgery whereby the bone would be cleaned and the surrounding areas would be stitched which might take at least a couple of hours. The most common fractures sustained in childhood are elbow and forearm fractures. Nearly fifty percent of pediatric fractures are forearm related which occurs primarily due to rollerblades, skateboards or scooters. In case of kids surgery is not needed and certain manipulations can cure the arm. However, in older kids will have to undergo the surgery depending upon the intensity.
Nearly sixty percent of children do get affected by upper arm fractures caused due to injuries associated with playground activities, monkey bars and slides. In such cases the child will experience tremendous pain and would not be in a position to move the arm even a bit. Depending on the intensity of the fracture a surgery might be needed. Smaller fractures might just need some casting of the bone. Severe fractures might need some amount of rest and care. The surgeon will recommend if the need arises which might occur when the nerve vessels get damaged. If parents take care of their kids while they are playing then such kind of fractures will be avoided.
