When Does Implantation Bleeding Occur ?

Implantation of the fertilized is a process in the uterus of a woman, in which the egg gets attached to the lining of the uterus. In the process of implantation, the fertilized egg makes way through the lining of the wall of uterus to share oxygen and nutrients with the mother.

Although implantation bleeding may get women panicking, it is actually good news for the women who were planning to welcome a new baby home! The bleeding is not heavy and it is a sign of conception in a woman as the fertilized egg gets attached to the line of the uterus.

Implantation bleeding occurs when the fertilized egg gets attached to the uterus wall. It happens about 6 to 12 days after the ovulation, which differs from woman to woman. To put in other terms, it occurs about a week prior to the menstrual cycle. As a matter of fact, sometimes it might be mistaken for the onset of menstrual cycle if both of them happen almost together. But, implantation bleeding is more like spotting of a pink or brown colored discharge unlike the red from menstruation.

The time of the occurrence of implantation bleeding can differ broadly than mentioned. It is so mainly because it depends on the speed of the movement of the fertilized egg to the uterus wall via the fallopian tube. Add to this the lightness of the bleeding that it also takes time to get out of the body. This process is affected by the presence of another egg or more than 1 egg. The onset of implantation is characterized by cramps in the woman before any bleeding starts. The cramp can be owed to the egg in the process of penetrating into the walls of the uterus, which is the normal way it goes.
