Just like any medication, even Yaz has its own set of side effects. Yaz is a birth control pill that is made from the combination of drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol. In addition, the medication is also used to treat premenstrual dsyphoric disorder and acne.
With regard to side effects of Yaz, it must be said that most women can tolerate the medication without any problems. If they suffer from a few minor side effects, they tend to resolve themselves after a few months without the aid of treatment.
One of the side effects of Yaz is the development of digestive problems. It has been seen that around 10 percent of women have digestive problems when they first start taking Yaz. These problems could be accompanied with nausea. In addition, Yaz can also cause gallbladder disease, abdominal pain and gastroenteritis.
It is the women who develop gallbladder disease with Yaz who end up suffering the maximum digestive problems. The first thing that the women have to face is removal of the gallbladder by way of laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Many women suffer from diarrhea once they have undergone surgery to remove their gallbladder. This is primarily because the body is unable to absorb the bile acids secreted by the liver. Under normal circumstances, these acids would be stored in the gallbladder, but now after the removal of the bladder, the acids enter the small intestines causing constant irritation and therefore diarrhea. However, this diarrhea can be treated through medication that will stop the acids from entering into the intestines and causing chronic irritation.
