Questran is a nutrition supplement that is prescribed to lower cholesterol levels for patient with excessive LDL cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia). In some cases, physician may prescribe the drug for a patient who has too much fat in the body (hypertriglyceridemia). In addition, Questran can also be used to relieve itching from gallbladder obstruction.While you are taking Questran, you still need to regularly exercise and diet. Although Questran can help lower cholesterol level, it is not the substitute for your exercise regime.
The drug is available on the market in 2 forms: Questran and Questran Light. The way that you take them is the same. Before taking Questran, mix it with water. Don’t take it in dry form. If you forget to take a dose, don’ t try to catch up by doubling the dosage. You don’t want to overdose. Symptoms of overdose may include strong stomachache or constipation. Get medication help immediately if this is the case.
It is important to inform your physician, if you have one of the following conditions: chronic constipation, kidney disease, diabetes, thyroid disorder. The research also shows that the drug can be harmful to a fetus. So if you are pregnant or planning to, you need to tell your doctor. Taking the drug during pregnancy can make it harder for the body to get the vitamins that it needs.
