Mobic is a non steroidal anti inflammatory drug. It is used for treating inflammation in the tissues and muscles due to arthritis, and injuries. Certain chemicals in the body, called prostaglandins, act to cause inflammation of the muscles and make the tissue and the muscles tender and swollen. This causes the pain.
Meloxicam, the active ingredient in Mobic, controls the production of these chemicals and prevents inflammation. This is what typically happens in arthritis.
Mobic is used to treat people who suffer from rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. However, these are long term conditions. It is often used with other arthritis medications in combination in treatment.
Eventually when the inflammation of muscles seems to reduce, the drug consumption is also minimized in patients. The side effects of Mobic are minimal and they are mostly fatigue, flu-like symptoms, headaches, vomiting, constipation and stomach pain. These are common with most anti inflammatory medications. Mobic is not known to cause any withdrawal symptoms. It is not a steroid or narcotic in the first place. It has zero tendencies for addiction. However, some patients experience nausea after stopping Mobic.
Patients should know that it takes a maximum of 21 days for any drug to completely clear out the blood stream. Until then, it is highly possible that the drug may continue to have side effects on your body. People wonder why they are still feeling nauseous even after stopping the medication. It takes at least three weeks for the medication to stop taking effect on you.
