Mobic is sold under the generic name of meloxicam which is the active ingredient in it. It is used as an anti-inflammatory medication. It can reduce pain and other inflammation in the body. However, it cannot be used by people who suffer from such inflammation regularly such as arthritis patients.
It is mostly sold as a prescription drug and in the form of oral liquid suspension. In case of rheumatoid or osteoarthritis, a doctor has to prescribe it and it can only be taken once a day.
There are side effects of Mobic like any other drug. Some people feel the side effects even after discontinuing the drug for a long time. To lose the effects of any drug, it takes 14 to 21 days of time. Never discontinue a drug like Mobic without the advice of the doctor. The doctor will taper of the medication gradually or substitute it with a less complicated pain killer. It also depends on the status of the inflammation. Usually Mobic is given as a dose for specific number of days. The doctor will start preliminary drugs soon after that.
After you stop taking the medication, you may notice flu like symptoms. You can have a lot of body aches and fatigue. This may, however, not be a result of inflammation. So, you do not have to worry. Contact your doctor immediately so that he can give alternate medication for the side effects. Mobic is not a steroid or a narcotic and therefore, there are no dangers of addiction to the drug.
