Lyrica And Kidney

Lyrica is a drug manufactured by the Pfizer Company to treat seizures. It is an anti-epileptic drug or an anticonvulsant. Lyrica directly reacts with the chemicals in the brain in order to stop the seizures. However, it has been reported that Lyrica can possibly alter moods and also increase suicidal tendencies.

It works by controlling the pain signals sent across the brain during a seizure. There are other applications of the drug also. Lyrica is used to treat the nerve pain caused by diabetic neuropathy and herpes zoster.

Sometimes, the side effects of Lyrica could be life threatening and other than that; several allergic reactions have been listed. Some of the signs to watch out for are swelling of lips, mouth, gums, tongue and neck. Rashes and trouble breathing should also be taken seriously. Some people with pre-existing conditions like liver or kidney problems should not take Lyrica. In such people, the drug may cause dizziness or sleepiness initially.

However, if you are taking the drug and have had any kidney-related problems, there are some symptoms to watch out for. If you develop fever or if you are feeling feverish and sick, call your doctor immediately. Changes in eye sight or blurry vision can be experienced. Any delay in treatment can end in kidney damage or dialysis. That is why it is very important to be alert to the side effects.

Lyrica under normal circumstances is an efficient drug for epilepsy. However, if it does not suit specific types of people, then it is better to avoid it.
