A study presented on April 1, 2003 in the 55th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Neurology shows the good effects of Keppra on elderly patients. Results from the study show that 40 percent of the participants aged 65 and above became seizure-free with the use of Keppra. One needs to note that antiepileptic drugs have different effects on both the young and the old.

It is known that elderly patients at most take multiple medication. This is due to the variety of health condition they may suffer from. Most have stroke, heart ailments, and other diseases that require other drugs to be taken in. Sensitivity to medicine increases with age which could mean that there is a possibility that the elderly might react differently than other people. Dosage may also be different for this age group. Some may require a higher dosage of Keppra, while others may not require the same high dosage.
