Keppra is the known trade name of levetiracetam. It is an anticonvulsant used to reduce the occurrence of partial epileptic seizures. This seizure is a form of epilepsy wherein the disturbances are limited to a certain part of the brain, and it makes the victim unconscious while experiencing the attack.

However, this drug is not used by itself. Other epilepsy medications are usually medicated along with Keppra. An example of a drug that it is usually used with is gabapentin. This mix is administered to those with neuropathic pain. Although this medication causes improvement in the users, it is also presents negative reactions such as dizziness and drowsiness.

While using Keppra, the patient should not be involved in precarious activities. There are instances where the drug can cause negative reactions.

In the first few weeks of using Keppra, it triggers psychological reactions in the user. Agitation is one of these side effects. It is a sign that there is overdose of the drug. This is marked by sudden aggression, depression, and emotional instability. There is physical and psychological restlessness, or what is called psychomotor agitation. The emotions of people under this influence are not stable causing a struggle in one’s ability to think.

While the effects of Keppra on seizures can be acknowledged, one should also be aware of the different effects it can give if used improperly. The number of negative side effects on the emotional health should be watched carefully. Prevention of chances of overdose can be done through balanced use of the drug.
