The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the intake of Januvia to improve and stabilize the blood sugar levels in patients suffering from diabetes type 2. The medication comes in the form of a pill.
Usually, the doctor prescribes the intake of Januvia along with two other common medications, namely metformin or a PPAR (peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma) and proper diet and exercise to produce effective results.
Consumption of Januvia would surely result in side effects. However, there may be certain patients who are exceptions to it. The side effects of Januvia are very mild and minor which can easily cured by the doctor.
The reported side effects include infections such as cold in the upper respiratory tract which has been reported in 6.3 percent people consuming Januvia. Sore throat and a leaking nose is experience by 5.2 percent people. A feeling of nausea and headaches as side effects of taking Januvia is experienced by 5.2 percent people. Abdominal pain is felt by approximately 2.3 percent people.
It should be noted that consumption of Januvia should be done after consulting the doctor only. While consulting a doctor, all the allergies, and kidney or heart ailments should be clearly mentioned. All those people who have allergy to any of the components used in the drug should not be prescribed this medication.
If you forget a dose of Januvia while eating food, you should take the dose immediately when you remember. However, if it is time to consume your next dose, do so without taking extra medication. Remember, you should follow the exact instructions of the doctor in order for the medication to be effective in treating diabetes type 2.
