Geodon is an effective antipsychotic drug used in the treatment of psychosis. This drug has comparatively less side effects compared to other antipsychotic drug. However, it does have side effects.

Schizophrenia and bipolar mania are the adverse effects associated with discontinuation of Geodon treatment. The most common allergic reactions include hives, difficulty in breathing, swelling of face, lips, throat or tongue. Dizziness, light headed feeling, fainting, pounding heart beat, fever, confusion, sweating, tremor, restlessness, hostility, agitation, increased thirst, increased urination, weakness, extreme hunger, and longer penis erection in males are the few serious side effects of Geodon usage.

Mild skin rashes, fungal dermatitis, drowsiness, muscular pain, itching, anxiety, depression, vomiting, loss of appetite, runny nose, cough, sore throat, and weight gain are some of the less serious Geodon side effects.

Chest pain, constipation, dyspepsia, anorexia, and dry mouth are the digestive symptoms associated with Geodon. The nervous symptoms include extra pyramidal symptoms, somnolence, akathisia, and dizziness. Respiratory tract infections, rhinitis and increased cough are the nervous side effects. Weight gain is another visual side effect.

Frequent abdominal pain, flu syndrome, face edema, hypothermia, chills are other common disorders. The side effects on the cardiovascular system include bradycardia, atrial fibrillation, cardiomegaly, and myocarditis. Hyperthyroidism and thyroiditis are the rare endocrine side effects. Metabolic and nutritional disorders are also common Geodon side effects.

Geodon also affects the musculoskeletal and urinogenital systems. Female sexual dysfunction, impotence, abnormal ejaculation, and vaginal hemorrhage are few infrequent side effects. Fungal infection and breast disorders are also less common side effects.
