Cure For Infant Thrush

Infant thrush occurs when the infant gets infected with a certain kind of fungus known as candida albicans. This is that same fungus which is also responsible for causing vaginal yeast infections. Well, this fungus is always present in the vagina but when it exceeds certain limit the growth becomes out of control causing many problems.

Generally, infants get this infection from their mothers from the passage of the birth canal. This is the reason why generally the infants get this type of infection within two months of their birth. This type of fungal infection is usually seen with white kind of abrasions in the mouth. These abrasions are mostly painful and the most prominent symptoms is that the infant takes out his mouth from feeding often because the abrasions tend to get rubbed causing further uneasiness and pain.

In order to treat oral thrush, you must boil the pacifiers, all feeding things including the teething rings. These must be thoroughly boiled for at least five to seven minutes. All the toys that the baby handles should be washed in soapy water regularly and kept in sunlight occasionally for drying and thereby killing further germs. The baby’s mouth should be rinsed well after each feed. Always remember that any residue of milk must be removed otherwise it may further give rise to development of fungus. The hands should not be neglected and must be washed at regular intervals with soap water. Naturally, one can reduce the development of fungus by giving feeds of yogurt or treating with acidophalis capsules.
