When it comes to taking medication or vaccination, it goes without saying that all have them have some or the other side effects. There are no medications or vaccines that come without any side effects. However, the degree of the effect varies from person to person. In fact, there are some people who will not experience any side effects.
Tetanus vaccination is a common shot given to children as a part of their childhood immunization program. The common side effects of tetanus vaccination include headaches, mild fever, diarrhea, pain and swelling at the site of the injection, pain in the stomach, vomiting and fatigue.
However, with the above mentioned side effects of tetanus vaccination, there is no cause for alarm. The effects will disappear in a day or two. But, if the side effects are particularly severe, you should immediately rush the person to a hospital.
Some of the severe side effects of tetanus vaccination include rash, severe itching, hives, facing problems in breathing, experience a sort of tightness in the chest, swelling of the lips, tongue or face, getting blisters or sores at the site of the injection, suffering from confusion, becoming unconscious, high fever, headaches, extreme pain in the joints, extreme pain in the muscles, inflammation of the lymph nodes and/or swelling of the arm or leg where the vaccine was administered.
The above mentioned side effects are a cause for alarm as they can be potentially dangerous for the person. Therefore, rather than administering home remedies, it is best to take the person to a hospital and consult a doctor. This is the safest option and the best one.
