Can Depression Cause A Skin Rash ?

Depression is a mental health condition. It causes several other conditions, such as anxiety and stress. Even normal stress can lead to depression. Depression and stress can lead to skin problems because of the excessive hormones that they cause. Skin problems are often a result of the confusion that is caused by the hormones and they throw the body’s metabolism and immune functions off track. If you are facing skin problems and depression or anxiety, it is most probably due to depression.  

 

Acne is nothing but pus filled swelling. They are red in color and swollen. They are filled with pus, blackheads and white heads and are considered as the cysts on the skin. The most common place for acne to occur is on the face, but it also appears on the back some times. There are several skin care lotions and creams that help to treat acne. Relaxing exercises that calm your mind are also a good treatment for acne. When the mind is calm, it allows the body to balance out the stress and also decrease the number of hormones that are being secreted. When the hormone production is low, the oil secreted through the glands is also low. This will decrease the number of acne.

Eczema is another condition that causes several rashes. The skin becomes red and itchy and dry. Eczema rashes hurt because when you scratch them. These rashes appear where there are creases on the skin. Typical places to develop these rashes are behind the knees, elbows, and in the creases of the abdomen. If you are obese, these rashes might seem a lot worse. Eczema is also affected by food. Certain foods like wheat, milk and dairy products can actually make the condition worse.

Psoriasis is a skin condition that is caused by depression and anxiety. It makes the skin silvery and it appears on the neck, elbows and chest. It also is seen on scalp and knees. When you are highly stressed out, psoriasis can worsen. In order to prevent these outbreaks, meditation and yoga are often advocated. These relaxing exercises seem to help in reducing the outbreaks and flare-ups.

Hives are several allergic reactions caused by eating certain foods. Food does have chemicals in them, and several of them do not suit everybody. Hives can also appear if there is too much cortisol in the body. When a person is depressed or stressed out, their body releases more cortisol to cope with the stress or anxiety. Hives are filled with fluids and they are red and itchy. They are found on the torso, neck and face. Mind calming techniques work well with hives.
