Rheumatic fever refers to a condition that is result of the advancement of the streptococcal infections like the scarlet fever or strep throat. There are a whole lot of complications of rheumatic fever, starting right from inflammation to some of the most notable damages to the various parts of the human heart.

The most common complication that is resultant due to rheumatic fever is high inflammation of the tissues especially in the heart. Even after the eradication of the disease, there are certain long term effects of such inflammation that may bring severe impact to the human body. Heart muscle damage is one of the commonest complications of the rheumatic fever. Another such complication would involve valve stenosis which is regarding the problems faced by the valves in terms of proper blood support as well as right blood flow. Valve regurgitation and arterial fibrillation are some more complications that are caused after one gets the rheumatic fever. Drastic and highly advanced complications may also lead to heart failure which is basically due to the extra swelling of the heart during the blood flow.

The overall process is quite slow and this is the reason that even the doctors might not detect the presence of any such complications or the ailments.
