Pubic lice refer to the blood sucking insects that are very tiny in shape and structure. They are known to live in the coarse body hairs especially the pubic hair. It can lead to itching as well as redness. They can be located at the eyelashes, eyelids, abdominal hair, moustaches, and facial hair. Pubic lice are spread through close contact with a person already suffering from the same. The most common and one of the major causes include sexual contact.

Pubic lice affect only humans and are not found in the animals. They are known to affect people from any age group but are mostly found among the young adults. Pubic lice are highly complicated, but it can further result in various other complications as well. As far as the dangers of pubic lice are concerned, they include skin complications, eye problems, and various other health issues.

• It may cause skin complications as there are several skin issues such as irritation and scratching that may be encountered by people with pubic lice. This may further lead to excoriation or may even cause infections like impetigo or the furnunculosis where the former refers to a bacterial infection while the latter indicates the boils on skin.
• Eye complications are known to occur when the eyelashes are infested with the pubic lice. This may then result in swelling or irritation in the eyelids known as Blepharitis. Conjunctivitis and corneal epithelial keratitis are some other eye issues that can be encountered.
