There are several psychological problems associated with Parkinson’s disease, which are considered to be the symptoms of this disease. There are several problems which are thought as the difficulties created by the disease or side effects of medicines that cause delusions, hallucinations and paranoia. These are the most common types of problems that occur in the patients of Parkinson’s disease.
Delusions, hallucinations and paranoia are the psychological problem that persists in the patients of Parkinson’s diseases. The patients suffering from hallucinations envisage things; their ability to think is amplified and as a result they see people or things, which others are not able to see. Delusions are considered as false beliefs that vary or are against from the real facts or reason. Paranoia disturbs the mind of the patient suffering from Parkinson’s disease by making them belief that someone is following them or going to be suddenly attacked by any unknown person. As part of Parkinson’s disease, these mental disturbances can be controlled almost in all patients.
The treatment for these disturbances can be carried by doing some study on the patient’s history. A careful background check of the patients can give some evidences of the causes behind these mental disturbances like paranoia, delusions and hallucinations. The doctors look for imbalances in chemicals of blood that control the water levels and nerve impulses in the body. Mental disturbances can also be caused due to other infections like the infections in lungs, liver or kidney. The mental disturbances can be caused by side effects of some medicines used in treatment of Parkinson’s disease. The mental problems caused by these medicines should be immediately stopped and doctors should recommend another medication. The doctors should treat the patients with anti-psychotic medicines before the problem increases. The patients suffering from these mental problems have to be treated with lot of care.
