How To Beat Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ?

Obsessive compulsion disorder is kind of psychological disorders which are caused mostly due to an unhappy upbringing or depressed childhood. The compulsions and obsessions turn severe once the sufferer is alone. Most often when this obsession or compulsion turns severe, it affects the mental balance of the patient. You would observe that the person has certain obsession towards symmetry and constantly checks his hair, face followed by other things. This is again common at home than outside.

The major reason for this would be that the home environment is far less stressful and private than outside. Also, there is complete freedom at home since we do not have to worry about others. The sufferer knows that nobody is watching him and so does not feel embarrassed. Even if someone does watch, they are least bothered as its often family. How to have a complete control on obsession is a big problem, but it can certainly beaten.

Firstly, most sufferers after a tiring day would want to release or practice some of the behavior. Hence, they turn to homes. Family members can surely guide and calm them by not letting them be alone in their rooms. They need to communicate with the sufferer by constantly supporting him or her. Enjoy or involve in discussions, talk to the person, share his worries and encourage him. Buy a stopwatch and notice the amount of time you spend around due to such an obsession. Keep doing this for a week and you would realize the amount of time wasted in the whole process. Think of other good choices that you could possibly do within this time period. Secondly, prefer response prevention exercises like watching something good on TV, or listening to some great music. Stay away from particular rooms and pick up rooms that are completely OCD free zones. Avoid rooms as that might get into some kind of obsession. Engage in outdoor activities that might take you out of your homes where privacy is limited.
