Every parent would like to give their children a trouble free future they deserve. Obesity is in childhood is a menace which the present generation is facing, primarily in a group which belongs to higher income category. Better living conditions have given rise to this problem, which should be addressed at the first instance by every parent before it paralyses the whole society itself.
Obesity in childhood is related to some diseases which could be deadly in the long run. Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, asthma, joint pains, and sleeping disorders are few dangers of childhood obesity.
Physical illness is one aspect but there are other latent facets which do not surface out naturally. It is often noticed that an obese child in a group is treated like a buffoon, and the kid always tries to hide his feelings behind this character.
Obese and overweight children find themselves away from the peer group. Other children tease them, and they find difficult to adjust themselves with the rest of the children. Such cornering results in the child becoming depressed and suffering from low self esteem. All this leads to psychological disorders.
As parents, it is our duty to keep our children healthy. As a routine check up, parents should get their children's body mass index checked regularly. In case the child is found to be overweight, his or her diet should be restricted and altered. One must see that the child takes less fats and sugar in the form of cookies, candy and chocolate creamy cakes. The food that the child should have more is green vegetables, fresh fruits and proteins.
However, you may not impose this diet on the child. So, it is best to be patient and involve them in activities which will make them aware of the goodness of eating the right kind of food, and also exercising regularly.
