The fundamental reason for obesity is stuffing oneself along with sedentary life style. Many of us just stuff our self without realizing the fact that, are we eating the right thing? If we want to get rid of that excess fat, we have to start saying a big no to that big chunk we eat every time this would obviously be the starting point of reducing fat.
How many of us ever bother to see the labels of foods we eat? If we want our own welfare and that of the society, we must first educate ourselves. It is not the overindulgence that causes obesity, but certainly lack of knowledge leads to a lackadaisical attitude. This attitude often results in consumption of fats and carbohydrates which are actually not needed by our body.
In many countries, it is mandatory to have labels in the food packets indicating the nutrient contents and its measure. But do we actually understand what does polysaturated fat, monosaturated fat and saturated fat means, or what effect they will produce in our body, or which one is better and which one is not. Answers to these questions, perhaps, would show some light to all of us and that could be possible only if the masses and the society are well educated.
The government can plays a vital role in educating the masses by initiating dietary advice curriculum at school level. Introducing such a curriculum would make children aware of the certain important aspects of diet and nutrition, so that when they become adults, they are able to avoid over indulgence and are educated enough to know what they are eating.
Obesity has given rise to few lifestyle related health problems whose end results could be fatal. Cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, diabetes type 2, kidney failure, colon cancer and strokes are most common diseases that occur due to obesity.
