However, muscular dystrophy that strikes at childhood can be much more dangerous because it can stop the growth of the child. The muscle breaks down faster than it is growing and also it weakens the heart really fast. A child with a poorly functioning heart muscle can become prone to various other conditions as well. Also, the children can develop scoliosis and various other related conditions. The spine also does not develop properly because of dystrophy. All these actually do more harm to the heart. Also, children who have a heart condition due to muscular dystrophy lead restricted lives.
