A migraine is one of the most common forms of ailments that people experience. It is common and also occurs due to various reasons. Several common conditions like constipation, indigestion, stress, depression, anxiety, fevers, cold and sinusitis can cause bad headaches.

However, a headache is also the worst form of ailment to have because you cannot do anything else unless you get rid of it. It causes a throbbing pain that makes you feel helpless. Headaches are usually caused due to chemical imbalances in the brain and also due to the shortage of oxygen supply. This can be easily relieved by drinking a huge amount of water. Water carries oxygen to the brain instantly and then you are relieved of the headache. Like a popular quote says: If you have a head, then you are prone to headaches. Also, a headache is a very common symptom of several ailments.

One of the chemicals that cause headaches is serotonin or rather the shortage of it. So this can be instantly improved by drinking water.

When serotonin levels go down, the blood vessels will swell up leading to a headache. The brain needs a constant supply of oxygen to be normal. A migraine can last for a few hours or a few minutes depending on the treatment. A headache can be immediately treated by taking an aspirin as well. If the headache is severe, then it is best you take medication to relieve it. However, the bottom line is that it has to be treated one way or the other or it could last for days.
