Meningitis is related to the membrane of the brain and it is an infection caused by both a bacteria and a virus. The bacterial form of meningitis is more dangerous than the viral form of it. However, these days, vaccinations are available for the Hib bacterium that causes bacterial meningitis and doctors strongly recommend it because there is no treatment available for it. The Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria have an important role to play in the meningitis fever. It also causes flu, but it is a different strain that is causes meningitis. The person is hospitalized and given antibiotics through drips to flush out the bacteria.
