Malaria is a disease caused by a parasite. The parasite is transmitted into human bodies through mosquito bites. The female anopheles mosquito is a carrier of this parasite and when it bites it transfers it into our blood stream. However, not all female mosquitoes are carriers of this parasite. Only some carry it. They could have picked it up from somewhere close.
The parasite once it enters the body takes about 9 days to incubate. It starts getting into the blood and attacks the red blood cells. Once it reaches the adult stage, it starts replicating in the red blood cells. This causes the red blood cells to burst and the parasite spreads all over the body. The parasites multiply in huge numbers within no time. When the parasite first enters the body, it travels to the liver through the blood stream and resides there. It can also cause jaundice if not diagnosed on time. The malarial parasite also causes severe anemia, and can become fatal for the person who is not being treated.
Some of the symptoms of malaria are very high fever and also shivering. Headaches and body aches are normal. However, the characteristic symptom is the excessive shivering somewhat similar to the flu. Malaria if identified on time is treatable and preventable from causing more danger. The presence of malaria parasite is identified by the presence of the parasite in the blood. The blood test is taken and the number of parasites per blood count is taken. The doctors will also know how much the disease has progressed.
