Malaria is a serious disease but one that can be treated if the symptoms are diagnosed early enough or else it could turn fatal. It is a disease of the blood caused by a parasite. This parasite is carried by a female species of a mosquito and when these bite humans they transfer the parasite into the blood stream.
The incubation period for a malarial parasite is about 9 days after which the person starts developing severe body pains and also high fever. It causes extreme shivering in the person with malaria.
Malaria can be compared to flu because the symptoms are very close. The disease starts with very high fever and the person will have rigor and chills. When the person takes medication the chills are controlled and the fever comes down but again when the effect of the medication is wearing down the fever starts increasing again and also the shivering starts. Malaria is one of the main causes of death in some tropical countries.
To be free of malaria, one should follow proper sanitization procedures. The mosquito needs breeding grounds that are like stagnant water and also filthy water. If an area is kept free from stagnant water, then the presence of mosquitoes also goes down.
Malarial parasite can also attack the liver and cause jaundice or severe anemia. Such conditions can turn fatal within no time. Malaria can also be transmitted when the female mosquito bites an infected person and then the same one bites another normal person in due course of time.
