Testing For Lymphoma

Lymphoma is a type of cancer that can be divided into two kinds. One is the Hodgkins type of lymphoma and the other is the non Hodgkin’s type of cancer. They are both further divided into various types depending on the cells that are causing the cancer.

However, there are no visible symptoms of the disease in the initial stages of cancer. It is only in the alter stages that the symptoms become more apparent. However, when a person suspects that there is something wrong with them and approaches a doctor, the doctor will ask them to go through some tests so that he or she can determine the exact cause. There are some diagnostic test performed for determining the lymphatic cancer and its subtype.

The first aim of the doctor would be to detect if there is a tumor and that is done only by using an MRI scan. If the scans reveal a tumor, then further tests like biopsy are recommended in order to decide if the tumor is a malignant one or not. However, before all this the doctor will physically examine the patient and see if they have any swollen lymph nodes in the body. Also, after that through the tests it is determined if it is a Hodgkins or non Hodgkins type of cancer. Also, there are classifications on ages where the Hodgkin’s and non Hodgkin’s can affect people. So, a person has to go through various types of testing procedures including blood tests and MRI scans to determine the type of cancer.
