Non Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a type of cancer that occurs in the lymph system. When the lymphatic cells start growing in an unregulated way, then they form tumors and result in cancer. The body needs lymphatic cells so that it can fight the various infections and viruses and bacteria occurring in the body. The lymphatic system is an integral part of the immune system and when it does not function properly, it could result in lymphatic cancer.
Basically, there are 2 types of lymphatic cancer, the Hodgkins type and the non Hodgkin’s type. The Hodgkin’s type of cancer is usually treatable and it can be detected in the early stages.
The non Hodgkin’s type of cancer is connected to the lymph tissues and nodes. Since these tissues and nodes are spread out through the body, the lymphatic cancer can actually occur anywhere in the body. So, in this type of cancer the disease is basically categorized depending on how fast the cancer is growing. Also, it is classified based on whether the B cells or the T cells are affecting it. People, who have this type of cancer, experience constant tiredness and also skin rashes and itchy skin. They also experience extreme weight loss.
There are several modern tests and diagnosis that can effectively diagnose lymphatic cancer. Also, there are newer methods of treatments in chemotherapy which target the exact lymph nodes or tissues that are affected. These treatments are not very invasive and the advancement in the MRI technology helps to target the exact affected area today.
