Constant exposure to lead can also cause lead poisoning in a woman.

Things like house paint, some of the utensils and also other common stuff can expose a woman to lead poisoning. Most of the paints we buy have lead in them and that is why doctors these days ask pregnant women to refrain form painting their baby’s nursery or doing any such things during pregnancy.
Some researches have shown that taking calcium supplements can help to reduce the effects.

Lead is one of the chemicals that are very similar to calcium but excess of it can become poisonous for the body. So calcium metabolizes the lead even if it is present in the body. That is why taking high doses of calcium sin recommended for women. It also gives the fetus stronger skeletal structure. Until recently, lead was also one of the important components of gasoline. However, in the United States, today, usage of lead is completely banned in gasoline and paint as well. Also, women who live in industrial areas can be exposed to lead through inhaling it. Lead can interfere with the mental development of the fetus in pregnancy.
