What Is Keloids ?
Keloids are scars that are formed as a result of an injury to the skin. Sometimes the skin reacts more than necessary to the injury and as a result the keloids develop over a period of time. The problem with keloids is that they tend to get bigger and bigger and also look ugly. Sometimes they are itchy and painful as well. Usually keloids also appear soon after a vaccination or when a rash develops. The best cure for keloids is to stop it from growing as soon as it is identified.
Sometimes, these keloids develop in the most awkward places like face and arms and tend to look very ugly. Unlike the regular scars keloids do not disappear over a period of time and tend to get worse. A keloid can actually occur at any time on the wound or an injury. Usually in an injury when the skin heals it is most likely to develop a scar which is basically discoloration of skin. However, keloid appears like an overgrowth.
Keloids are white or pinkish in color. Some people have painful ones and in such cases a surgery becomes inevitable. Some of the treatments for keloids include taking steroids and cortisone injections. Also, if they are identified very early in their development, then the treatment can be more effective for them. The early symptoms of keloids are the skin turns shiny and it is slightly raised. Overall it looks like a tiny bump in the beginning. It looks like an uneven or pinched skin.More Articles :
