Interstitial cystitis is a chronic inflammatory condition that affects the bladder. There are several symptoms that are experienced by people. The physician may even enquire about the urination patterns that a patient goes through. Another such test includes pelvic examination, which may differ for men and women as per their disorders. During this test, the physician may try and feel the internal organs along with checking the external genitals as well. It is also capable of detecting the tenderness at the bladder base if any exist.

The third test under this list would include urinalysis under which the urine samples taken from the patients are analyzed very carefully. The physician then tries and checks out the presence of any bacteria, red or white blood cells. Potassium sensitivity test is the next test that such people need to go through. Cystoscopy and biopsy are other relevant tests for interstitial cystitis.
