H1N1 influenza, also known as swine flu, is one of the worse flu pandemics in the recent years. Hundreds of people have died in Mexico, where the flu originated, and after that hundreds more have died in other parts of the worlds.
Thousands of people have been infected by the disease. H1N1 influenza is a respiratory disease that usually affects pigs. However, some time, the disease can get transmitted from pigs to humans. The 2009 H1N1 pandemic is not a zoonotic swine flu as it is transmitted from person to person rather than from pigs to humans.
If you are worried about contracting H1N1 influenza, it is best to know what the H1N1 influenza symptoms look like so that you can get timely treatment.
The first thing to understand is that H1N1 influenza symptoms are similar to the regular flu. That is why it is important to take note of the symptoms so that you know when your condition is getting worse. H1N1 influenza is characterized by headaches, fatigue and joint pains. If you have these symptoms, make sure you get complete bed rest as it will help relieve all the aches and pains.
Also, H1N1 influenza causes sore throat, cough, nasal congestion, and chest congestion. In addition, you might find it difficult to breath. You will suffer from high grade fever of 101 degrees Fahrenheit; and you will have skin rashes, diarrhea and vomiting. As a result of diarrhea and vomiting you could get dehydrated, which is not at all good. Therefore, make sure that you drink a lot of fluids even if you do not feel like drinking.
The moment you are suffering from difficulty in breathing or feeling lethargic, it is time to visit the emergency room of the nearest hospital. You should also visit the ER if symptoms first get better and then return with more ferocity.
