Heart diseases are not new to this world. Ever since man evolved, people were always dying for various reasons that eventually ended with heart failure.
Only if the heart fails, will people die. However, ancient people did not have so many names and terms for heart disease. Though most of the terminologies were coined in the 19th century, the conditions were old. Some historians claim that very few people died of a heart disease prior to the 19th century. Before the Industrial Revolution, several people depended on manual labor for their everyday life. People never led sedentary and inactive lives, and were active most of the time. Their diet and lifestyle was equated.
However, after the age of technology started, people started working their body less and mind more. This has given rise to an imbalance of proportions in the body because the daily diet also needs to be altered accordingly. The first incidents of heart diseases were noticed in the mid 19th century. People died randomly. And, there were several cases where people were rushed to the hospital because they fainted and then declared dead. It took a while for doctors to understand the reason after autopsy. The heart had failed but that is what happens when a living being dies.
Initially, heart diseases were extremely difficult to diagnose. However, after a while, as awareness grew in the early 1970s, people understood that heart attacks and cardiac arrests were common killer diseases. With more and more research put into the field, today we have complete knowledge that our own habits kill us.
