Heart disease is the single biggest killer disease in the United States. Out of every 5 deaths caused, at least 3 of them are due to a heart related problems.

Among all the countries, the maximum number of deaths due to heart disease occurs in the United States. The main reasons have been attributed to habits like smoking and alcoholism, bad diets, sedentary lifestyle and lack of exercise.

Many people in the United States are addicted to bad habits and also fast food. Eating meat everyday, fried foods and fast food is causing higher risks of heart diseases. Today, the numbers are staggering when it comes to the number of people suffering for cardiovascular diseases. In the United States, every 34 seconds a person dies from heart disease or heart failure. Nearly 2,500 Americans are dying everyday. Everyday at least 500 people suffer from heart attacks, and most of them die before they get to the hospital. It has been estimated that around two hundred and fifty thousand people die before they get to the hospital every single year. That is a large number.

Heart conditions do not develop suddenly, but a stroke does. However, the heart may have been suffering over a period of time and the condition progresses very slowly resulting in a stroke or an attack one day. Another reason why people die every year is because of the lack of awareness of the symptoms of heart attack. Several people delay seeking treatment by failing to recognize the symptoms.

A person is most likely to develop a heart condition when he or she is overweight, smokes, drinks excessive alcohol, leads a sedentary life, and eats erratically.
