How Common Is Heart Disease In Women ?

Until now the world thought that women are least susceptible to have heart disease because of their lifestyle and habits.

However, this is a misconception as more and more scientific reports indicate that women are also at a high risk of getting heart disease. In fact, a research conducted in 2008 showed that for every three men who suffered from a heart stroke, there were two to three women who suffered a similar stroke to.There are several factors that lead to a heart condition in women. One of the main reasons is a lot of women smoke or they are exposed to second hand smoke. Other factors include obesity, stress, depression and high irregularities in everyday life.

Also, a study indicates that men are more likely to exercise regularly compared to women. Men treat exercise as work, and even if they have habits like smoking and drinking, they can still get de-stressed through exercise. Also, men take a longer time to put on weight compared to women. A woman, on the other hand, is less likely to adapt to exercise because they are preoccupied with several other things like children, household chores or work. Also, women tend to put on weight quite fast. So, the health risk from heart disease for women is very high.

Today, in the United States, one out of three women is very likely to have a heart related risk. This risk can be in the form heart attack, heart ailment, stroke or weakness. Women are also more susceptible to getting coronary heart disease compared to men.
