One of the most popular and effective ways to treat hives is to keep yourself in a colder environment. Taking a cool shower helps to cool down the body.

Vitamin E has great curative properties that help to cure the signs and symptoms of hives. Vitamin E oil is available off the shelf and you can apply it directly on the affected area.

Soak half a cup of baking soda in the bath tub along with corn starch. Soak your body in this water for half an hour. It is very effective in treating hives. The symptoms like itching and scratching are controlled.

Drinking tea made out of peppermint, chamomile and valerian is helpful in curing hives. These herbs have curative properties in them. Applying aloe vera directly on the hives is also curative.

Stinging nettle has a healing effect on hives. Add a tablespoon of honey to 2 spoons of stinging nettle and add some lemon for flavoring. Consuming this concoction decreases the symptoms of hives.

Eating foods that are rich in vitamins C and E and zinc control hives.

Take some oatmeal and add 3 tsp of cornstarch to it. Make a paste of it and apply on the affected area. Wash it off after an hour. To relieve itching caused by hives, allow the oatmeal to steep in the skin by sitting for half an hour in an oatmeal bath.

Doctors suggest that swimming in chlorine water helps to treat and prevent hives.

Grapefruit seeds extract can be mixed with olive oil and applied over the affected area, it gives relief. It also cures the itching. You can also add grape seed extract to water and spray it on the hives.

Milk of magnesia also relieves the stinging sensation caused by hives.

Avoid anything hot inside the body and do not wear tight or warm clothes. It will dilate the blood vessels further and increase the hives on the body.
