Hepatitis A is the commonest but not necessarily the most harmless of all the types of hepatitis diseases. It is a contagious disease, spread mainly by coming in physical contact with human excreta carrying the responsible virus. This may happen if the patient does not wash hand properly after toilet and later shakes hand with an unsuspecting person or starts cooking food. There may or not be symptoms showing in its initial stage and varies from patient to patient. Thus, a general case study of various victims of hepatitis A is needed to understand the infection more closely.
One such case study of an 18 year old male with a 10 day medical history of nausea, discomfort in the upper abdominal area and anorexia was carried out. A couple of weeks before the study were done; he felt mild arthralgia in the fingers which he said lasted a couple of days. Then he noticed that he passed urine of darker color than normal. He usually smoked about twenty cigarettes and consumed two or three beer pints per day, but did not have any for some days before the study. It was also found that he never got injected for anything. He got diagnosed with hepatitis A after a series of tests were carried out on him.
Even though hepatitis virus does not know any boundaries of creed, race, sex, nationality, etc. still different studies show that these viruses are spread more in the developed countries like the U.S. because of their open and liberal culture. This goes on to prove that even people with the most normal of the lifestyles, with occasional indulgences can also make one vulnerable to the disease.
