Few of the diseases are just an infection and cause a simple itching and inflammation. But sometimes, diseases cause serious problems, which can lead to the vision loss and further blindness.Cataract occurs when the clear and transparent lens of the eye becomes opaque. Older people are most prone to the disease. However, it has been found in children as well. Double vision, inability to recognize and differentiate the color, and sensitiveness to the light are few major symptoms of the disease.
There are three types of surgeries that can be performed to treat cataract. They are posterior chamber implants, anterior chamber implants and iris-supported implants.
Glaucoma occurs due to the increase in fluid pressure in the eye. As a result, the optic nerves get damaged and cause the loss of vision or blindness. There are four types of glaucoma, namely chronic simple or primary open angle glaucoma, congestive or primary angle closure glaucoma, secondary glaucoma, and infantile glaucoma.
Retinal detachment is a result of separation of retina from the back portion of the eye. With regular eye checkups, this eye disorder can be detected early and treated accordingly. Retinal detachment is of two types: primary and secondary.
