What Is Endometriosis ?

Endometriosis refers to a disorder where some bits of the tissue located within the inner lining of uterus starts growing within the body of a woman outside the uterus. This can in turn result in pain as well as irregular bleeding. It further is likely to affect a woman in terms of her pregnancy. In endometriosis, certain patches of the misplaced endometrial tissue get implanted on organs located outside the uterus on their own like the bladder, ovaries and fallopian tubes, and the rectum.

These cells are also known to respond to the hormonal signals of ovaries through swelling or thickening. But, they are not able to shed themselves from tissue to which they are actually adhered. Sometimes, they may bleed a bit and then they get healed after some time. This may happen every month but it must also be noted that a continuous process may leave scare in the body.
