Which Foods Cause Eczema ?

Many people wonder whether the food they are eating is causing eczema. There are some foods that tend to worsen eczema, and there could be some that actually cause the disease.

Therefore, it is best to find out Which Foods Cause Eczema ? so that you can make a conscious effort to avoid them if you are suffering from this chronic skin disease. In order to figure out which foods are causing your eczema, you would have to start eliminating them one at a time. This is also known as elimination diet where one particular food item is removed completely from the diet for a particular period of time. Then that food is reintroduced into the diet. If your eczema gets better after the food is eliminated from your diet, and then it gets worse after the food is reintroduced, you can be sure it is that particular food that is causing your eczema.

However, it has been found that certain foods tend to cause eczema more than others, or they tend to aggravate the condition. Dairy products are known to cause around 75 percent of the problems associated with eczema. This includes milk, butter, cheese, yogurt and cream. Some people may experience flare ups even when they eat chocolates or salad dressings made from cream.

Wheat products tend to affect one out of seven people suffering from eczema. Therefore, those people whose condition becomes worse from eating wheat or flour should make a conscious effort to avoid all foods made from wheat, including donuts, crackers and pancakes. Also, they should avoid consuming beer and root beer as they too are made from wheat-based products.

Other foods that cause eczema include blueberries, cranberries, plums, prunes, eggs, all types of seafood, and nuts like almonds, walnuts, pistachios, cashew nuts, hazelnuts and peanuts.
