Mosquitoes cause dengue fever which is an infectious disease that can be life threatening in some fatal cases. This deadly viral infection attacks during the months after rainy season in the subtropical and tropical areas like Africa, Southeast Asia, China, the Middle East, Caribbean, Central and South America, Australia and the south and central Pacific. In the past, dengue was known as break-bone fever because it causes intense muscle and joint pain.
The symptoms dengue fever can be noticed in the first 5 to 6 days after the mosquito bites the person. The symptoms are high fever, severe headache, joint pains, pain behind the eye, muscle pain, rash, nausea, rashes that occur all over the body within four to five days after the person is infected and vomiting.
There are 4 types of viruses which cause dengue fever. If a person is infected with any one of these four viruses, he will get dengue fever. The 4 types of virus are DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3 and DEN-4.
Dengue fever is transmitted to humans via the mosquito bite by Aedes mosquito. Mosquitoes become carriers when they bite an infected person and then they transmit the disease to an uninfected person.
This dengue fever can be prevented from entering into your body by taking some simple precautions. Cover your doors and windows with screens, especially if you are staying near moist areas or gardens. Use mosquito repellent lotion when you are traveling, use handy rackets and do not keep water stagnant for many days.
