Cancer And Personality

Cancer is a disease which is characterized by uncontrollable division of the cells.

Sometimes, these cells can infect the adjacent healthy cells or can spread the disease to other parts of the body via lymph and/or blood. Cancer can manifest at any age; however the risk of developing cancer increases as the person ages.Usually the genetic material in the cell is abnormal leading to cancer. The abnormality in the cells can occur due to radiation, tobacco, cigarette smoking, chemicals or even infectious agents.

Invariably when a person is diagnosed with cancer, the person's personality comes into play in the way the person handles the disease and treatment protocol. It has been seen that cancer and personality are definitely inter-connected.

Patients who can give vent to their feelings about the disease and the treatment measures are invariably in a better position to handle stress than people who do not. The ones who pretend to be happy and portray an image of not caring tend to accumulate the stress in side, this further affects their health adversely.

Doctors say that people who get cancer and demonstrate a nice and congenial manner are the ones who should be looking for a way to give vent to their emotions, feelings and frustrations of getting the disease. These people can take on a sport like bowling or tennis where they can release all the pent up anger they are holding within. If they do not find a way to get rid of the stress, these people will do themselves more harm than good.
