The brain is the most important part of the body as it is the center that controls the body.
The brain is responsible for controlling speech, memory, thoughts and movements. In addition, it is also responsible for controlling many other organs. If the brain is okay, the body will work efficiently. However, if the brain gets some disease or infection, the entire body is affected as a consequence. The brain can be affected in a number of ways. For instance, the brain can get inflamed, which will affect the vision, causes paralysis, disrupt the ability to think coherently, or even weakness in the body. The brain can also get tumors which can affect the different functions as well as put pressure on the nerves. Sometimes, the diseases are genetic in nature, as is the case with Alzheimer's disease.
Depending on what the disease is, different symptoms manifest themselves. Sometimes, the damage caused can be permanent, while on other occasions a surgery, medication or physical therapy can rectify the problem to a great extent.
Nervous system diseases have the ability to affect the brain. For instance, encephalitis is a disease caused by a virus, and leads to the brain getting inflamed. It can be fatal if not treated. Another disease of the brain and nervous system is meningitis where the membranes covering the brain and the spinal cord get inflamed. It can be caused by bacteria or virus. Arachnoid cysts can develop in the brain or the spinal cord. Here the cerebrospinal fluid present around the brain and the spinal cord get enveloped by cells known as arachnoids. This is a disease that is present at birth and can cause ataxia, headaches and seizures.
