What Happens When You Get Aids ?

AIDS is a disease related to the immune system that is caused by a virus called Human Immunodeficiency Virus. AIDS Stands for Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. AIDS is a killer disease and it is fatal for almost everyone. AIDS also gets diagnosed very late in life after the disease has progressed to a great extent.

A person who gets infected with the HIV virus gets AIDS. The disease causes the immune system to become weaker gradually and also makes the person more susceptible to other illnesses. When the immune system is weak people tend to get all kinds of infections and diseases. Even a common cold is an infection. So the person who has AIDS gets sick very frequently because of the decreasing immunity.

Also, people with AIDS cannot do anything to build their immunity. The body stops making antibodies so the immune system is severely challenged. Even a simple cough or cold can become persistent for such people. Depending on the condition of the person AIDS can decrease the longevity of the life of the infected person to a great extent. After being diagnosed with AIDS, a person can die within three years. Towards the end, their body is extremely weakened.

One of the most common ways for the spread of AIDS is through sexual contact. If an infected thing or a person comes in contact with another person sexually or by piecing the skin, then the person gets infected. Even prostitution has been blamed by large for the spread of AIDS.
